MaryAnn and Tony Habib lost everything in the Monday, Sept. 25 fire in Holmdel.

MaryAnn and Tony recently moved to Holmdel with their daughter, Mila.

"On Monday morning, MaryAnn went downstairs with her 21-month-old daughter where both she and her husband smelled something funny," a friend, Mary Pahira, wrote on a GoFundMe page.

"Tony went to check the garage and saw the fire going. He tried to put the fire out while she called 911 and was told to evacuate immediately. MaryAnn quickly grabbed her daughter and purse then ran next door to get their daughter to safety before racing back to get their 2 dogs."

Tony tried all day to see if anything could be saved and unfortunately, they lost all of their personal belongings, including the family's car, Pahira said.

All money raised will go towards them buying clothes, furniture, hotel stay, diapers and "anything else they will need to help get them back on their feet," Pahira wrote.

In the meantime, they are staying at their parents' home, she said.

"Everyone is beyond grateful that they are okay and their main focus is Mila, making sure she has everything she needs and helping her to adjust," Pahira said in an update on Tuesday, Sept. 26.

"This is a surreal nightmare that could've been a lot worse for sure, yet still unimaginable to go through," Pahira wrote.
